NEW YORK, OCTOBER l6, 1963 - National Lead Company has named Kenneth C.
Specht manager of paint and paint products sales and Henry J. Whitson manager of
pigment
chemical sales. The appointments are effective November 1, upon the
retirement of David A. Merson as sales manager, paints, pigments and chemicals.
In their new positions, Mr. Specht will direct the sales of paints and
Mr. Whitson the sales of pigments and chemicals in National Lead branches through
out the country.
Mr. Specht joined the office staff of National Lead's Pacific Coast Branch
at Los Angeles in 1935* He became a salesman for industrial finishes department
in 1939 and department manager in 19W-. He was appointed assistant manager of the
Southern Division in 19^7, and manager in 19^8. Mr. Specht transferred to New
York in 1950 and was named company trade sales manager in 1951* In February of
this year he was appointed assistant manager for sales of paints, varnishes and
related products. Mr. Specht is a graduate of the University of California, Los
Angeles.
Mr. Whitson was first employed by the Atlantic Branch, National Lead Com
pany in 1932 as a sales trainee at the Research Laboratories at Brooklyn. Later
that year he became sales representative for lead pigments and oxides at New York
City. In 19^0 he was appointed assistant sales manager of dry pigments for Atlantic
Branch, advancing to sales manager in I9K2. He became assistant to the company's
sales manager, paints, pigments and chemicals in 19^8 and in February of this year
he was appointed assistant manager for sales of pigments and chemicals. Mr. Whitson
received his B.S. degree from Princeton University.
