The O hio E P A recom m ends sam pling the bottom of the water colum n at the selected location approximately 3 m iles upstream of the DuPont facility near river mile marker 185.5. This additional bottom sam ple would provide an upstream or background sam ple to com pare to bottom sam ples along the W ashington W orks Facility- If bottom sam ples along the facility detected 0*8, then a determination can be made if there is any contribution from an upstream source. 2. The O hio E P A recom m ends sam pling the bottom of the water colum n at one of the two sites located 1.5 and 3 m iles downstream of the facility. This bottom sam ple is recommended to evaluate the m ixing of C-8 vertically throughout the water colum n a s it m oves downstream from the outfalls. 3. H ie O hio E P A recom m ends that an additional sam ple location be added downstream of the W ashington W orks Facility near river-mile marker 192.5, T ills location should be placed near the W est Virginia bank in case the discharge from Outfall 005 (1.5 m iles upstream) does not m ix to midstream. 4.
