Lost Workday Cases - No Lost Workday Cases were reported in June,
Recordable Injuries - Four Recordable Injuries were reported in June. Data Processing and Construction each had two. Details of this month's recordable Injuries are provided in the attached BLS/OSHA Injury and Illness Summaries.

Total Recordables for all Technical Center Groups and Construction is now at 23,
Recordable Illnesses - Two Recordable Illnesses were reported in June. Central R/D and Construction each had one. All Groups now have a total of ten (10) Recordable Illnesses. The Technical Center site had eight (8) and Construction has two (2). Details of June Recordable Illnesses are provided in the attached BLS/OSHA Injury and Illness Summaries.
Recordable Injury Summary by Body Part - In Construction back and hand injuries account for 86% of all Recordable Injuries. Back injuries account for 57* and hand injuries account for 29%.
At the Technical Center, hand injuries account for 67% of all Recordable Injuries. Arm/shoulder injuries account for 22% and back injuries account for 11%, A summary of all Recordables for the first six months is attached.

OFF-THE-JOB INJURY SUMMARY
Three (3) Off-the-Job Disabling Injuries were reported in June. One (1) In Central Engineering, one (1) In Services and one (1) In Construction.
The Technical Center site now has sixteen (16) OTJ Injuries, eight (8) for EWTS employees and eight (8) for site tenant employees.
Construction now has 7 OTJ Disabling Injuries.
"Home" and "Public" accidents account for the most OTJ Injuries to Technical Center and Construction employees (Home - 13 and Public - 10).
Only one OTJ Disabling Injury this year has Involved "Transportation" or motor vehicles,
OTJ Injuries year-to-date have resulted In 370 lost workdays compared to 260 lost workdays In the same period last year. We now have a total of 23 OTJ Disabling Injuries and we had 23 In the same period last year. A summary of all OTJ Injuries for the first six months Is attached.
JULY 20-31 -- UCC COMPLIANCE AUDIT
Please remember the UCC Corporate HSSEP Department will be conducting a safety and health compliance audit at the Technical Center from July 20-31. This audit will cover the Technical Center site and City Center East. Managers and supervisors must evaluate all work areas, equipment and work practices to ensure 100% compliance with approved programs and procedures. Any questions regarding our upcoming audit should be directed to your HS&EA staff representative.
RESPIRATORY TRAINING
The last of three respiratory training make-up sessions will be conducted by the Safety Department on July 8, 1987 at 8:30 a.m. in Building 754. If you have any employees who are required to use respirators but have not been trained In the past two years, please make sure they attend this training or do not assign them to use this equipment. Any questions on respiratory equipment training should be directed to P. L. Graham, X-4778.

DESCRIPTION OF ACCIDENT AND INJURY Asbestos related pleural lung thickening
Employee's left arm came In contact with a 5/8" uninsulated steam tracer while Insulating a pipe. 2 burn to left forearm.
Employee was cutting weeds and loading them Into a truck. Exposed to poison Ivy on both arms.
Employee was cutting pipe, using an electric pipe machine. While removing pipe from machine, employee pressed the foot switch causing the chuck to turn pinching his finger between the pipe and the pipe machine guide bar. Fracture and laceration to the base of nail on right ring finger.

DESCRIPTION -OF ACCIDENT AND INJURY Allergic reaction to vaporaist 500-D Insecticide. Employee's workplace was sprayed for insects over the weekend (2/21-22/87) and a reaction occurred the following week.

Allergic reaction to vapomist 500-D insecticide. Second exposure - The employee was exposed to this material when it was sprayed and fogged in her work area (2/21-22/87).
Bilateral pleural thickening of lungs. Probably due to exposure to asbestos dust.

Shield holder slipped as the employee was replacing a pro tective shield on a x-acto knife, lacerating the left palm. Five (5) sutures required.

Muscle Injury to left shoulder. Climbing stairs when he slipped 4 started to fall. Jolted shoulder trying to catch himself from falling.
