File Memo Trenton ChemicaL PLant March 26, 1969 Friction Materials Building Brake Lining Adhesive Application .1 The installation of the revised ventilation at the conveyor following application of adhesive was completed. Capture velocities of 400 to 700 fpm were recorded at both north and south conveyors. A capture velocity of 50 to 100 fpm was measured at the south application operation. No capture velocity was found at the north application operation. This matter was discussed with "X K. Hasselkus, and we recommended installation of a sheet metal extension to provide exhaust at the adhesive application. At the north loading station no exhaust drying hood is avail able. S. Enders, Manager, stated that compulsory wearing of organic vapor respirators would continue. This operation will be relocated because of increased volume. 2. v-\ Loading conveyor at new Lodgie mixer installation was completed on March 25, 1969, but electrical problems prevent operation of equipment. Exhaust ventilation will not be installed until production problems are resolved, UJL i ^ ? L. ^ ^ Disc brake operations will not be performed for approximately three months as they are to be transferred to the new plant area. Discussed with K. Hasselkus method of installing hood at chutes to Bipfel machines as recommended in a communication to F. E. Repucci on 3/20/69. M. M. Schuman recommended the installation of a hood at the location where asbestos is added to the press. No hood is required at the weighing bench as operation will be automatic at new location. 4. .. v" v,vA k One tenth (.1) percent lead is to be added to brake lining formulation probably starting in April 1969. Regulations designed to protect employees health including blood lead program were reviewed. Two component lockers are to be provided as required by the State of Michigan Department of Health. 2- Ventilation system at S6 put in operable condition.
