A. INITIAL SURVEY (COMPLETED JANUARY, 1976) 1. OSHA Subpart Z list substances present here were identified by each area. 2. Assessment -was made of need for a determination of workplace exposure levels. a. The number of written determinations likely needed for each substance was specified. b. Based on estimates or previous ambient air monitoring, the probable maximum workplace concentration of each was identified as either <cr> 1/2 TLV. B. COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS 1. Asbestos - Compliance program completed, controls instituted and effective. 2. Carbon Tetrachloride - Comprehensive and documented personal and ambient monitoring program instituted. Problem areas identified and corrective actions in progress or planned. Re-evaluations to be made after completion of planned engineering improvements. Impact of proposed more stringent regulations evaluated. 3. Carbon monoxide - Ambient air monitored in warehouse areas subject to CO buildup due to fork trucks. Results indicate compliance. 4. Butadiene - Ambient air monitored at location likely to have highest concentrations. Results indicate compliance. 5. Chloroform - Monitored along with carbon t-et. Manpower limitations have not permitted development and implementation of comprehensive program to formally determine and document compliance status on other sub stances. b. Proposed workplace standards are reviewed when released for potential impact on operations here. Appropriate action initiated where need indicated, e.g. monitoring, and need for engineering improvements determined and evaluated. 7. Respiratory Protection - Safety supervisor attended recent ESD conducted training course; certain measures necessary to improve our program will be implemented by Safety Division. C.
