Dear Ms. Turner
WASHINGTON WORKS - NPDES PERMIT WV0001279 TREATED SUPERNATE DISCHARGE THROUGH FILTER SYSTEM
This letter requests approval to discharge supemate treated at a vendor facility through the existing ammonium perBuorooctanoate (FC-143) reduction fitter system at Washington Works to Outlet 005. The attached operating procedure describes the supemate treatment test and incorporates the requirement that the treated supemate will not be processed at Washington Works unless the concentration of FC-143 is less than 10 parts per million (ppm). In addition testing will be performed to assure that sufficient Triton has been removed so that foam will not be expected to fonn when this water is discharged through Outlet 005 to the Ohio River. In addition the trench leading to Outlet 005 will be monitored for foaming and visible solids during the treated supemate discharge.
Please note (he attached document is considered contidenfiat because of the proprietary information it contains.
If the supemate testing is successful we will discuss equipment performance and analytical results prior to installation of a production system at Washington Works.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (304) 863-4271.
Sincerely,
R. L. RBchey Sr. Environmental Control-Consultant Washington Works
