Hyland REFERENCE: Agreement with Union I.A.M. (tf. Cordon & L. V. Winchester) As directed by Hr. H. J. Hill, a meeting was held to discuss the operation of the wet machine In Department 201 to conduct an experimental run on a new material. The purpose was to arri ve at an agreement between the union and the company on the method of cal l bad; of machine operators presently reassigned to other job classifications and shifts due to shutdown of this equipment. Since the work Involved onl y the *8" shift (8hours) cm each of two days, both parties agreed that It would he unfair and unrealistic to recall operators according to contract. Hence, the following conditions were agreed upon for this experimental run: 1. Employees subject to recal1, in the cl assI f! cat ions required, for this run end presently working in the plant on the "B" shi ft in other assignments would be asked If they would consider returning to Deportment 201 to operate the equipment to complete this exper imental run for a new product. It was agreed that each etnployee was not bound by contract to re turn if he or she chose not to, due to the shortness of this job. 2. it was agreed that the call back by the method outlined In step one was not subject to tie seniority clause within each classi fication requested to return. 3. ft was agreed that the present jobs would remain aval table (open) for the return upon completion f this experiment to those employees who left them to perform this work. 4. It was also agreed, that these classifications being of an Incentive type would be paid at the rata of 120% where the payment applied by contract. 5. It was agreed that this agreement would become void If the expertmental work exceeded five days.
