Catalyst Regenerating Unit . (CRU.) Bottoms . High boiling range aromatic solvents ASTM BR of 40(f - 69<f F. ' The catalyst used in the Cat. cracker is a silica-alumina, Filtrol 800. The hydrotreating unit uses a nickel-molybdenum catalyst. Other catalysts used are UOP Rll, a platinum compound and a solid H2P04 (phosphoric acid on surface of fullers earth). There was asbestos used on all previous insulation of pipes, joints, .valves and vessels. Some of the products used and stored in the field foreman's office building include, Johns-Manville fhermosbestos pipe insulation. Pabco Super Caltemp type LC block insulation. 30 bags of Johns-Manville asbestos fine cement ( 100 lbs. each) Thermalite, 85% magnesia ( contains asbestos) also - Kaowool (alumini silica ceramic fiber) no asbestos. The new work to be started this year (1972) will include a Catalyst Regenerator unit and a Hydrogen treating unit under the "Estimate 3600" contract with Bechtel Corp. We have attempted to have all this new work done with the specifications changed to require the use of asbestos-free insulating materials. The-noise program includes audiograms, noise reduction through engineering methods and personnel protective equipment. The operators use muffs and the Maintenance Dept, uses sound sentry and plugs. The noise contour readings are taken by W. -T. Atkins and recorded on plot plans. Yellow lines are painted on concrete pads and signs are posted at 90 dBA contour.. Some assistance will babe to be provided to the medical staff for interpretation of audiograms. This guideline preparation is underway by Dr. H. E. Hyder, Houston to be distributed to all Medical Depts. This is a 75 millicurie source licensed by the State of Washington 1972 and the AEC. The controls used include wipe teats and a film badge service. The present tank entry procedure includes the use of a Unico Model 175 Lead in Air Meter, MSA combustible Gas Indicato'r and a gaseous oxygen analyzer. They go to lead free, 20% oxygen and usually a zero percent of lower explosive limit. The respiratory protective equipment includes MSA hand powered air supplied hose units, self-contained breathing apparatus and canister type gas masks. A central maintenance program from the plant tool room provides good control and maintenance ' of this equipment.
