Although we had been working toward a $ 22.8 million budget, full funding for this amount is no longer realistic. 2) Although the Oversight committee is not planning a meeting until November - after the next budget report is released - I would recommend the technical/budget, and communications committees start the process of reworking the numbers. For all administrative costs, this might mean more reliance on internal resources rather than outside contractors. 3) Cost tracking and management for the study (studies) will likely also need serious attention with appropriate discussions with the investigators and scientific oversight and endorsement by the SRP and ERP. Note: a) cost implications as a result of the most recent SRP review have not be made and b) a revised budget from Fudan University needs closure soon. 4) Regarding the Fudan proposal, the revised budget is about $ 230,000 and not $ 661 ,000, but still represents an increase over our original budget expectations. We have to endorse the $ 230,000 with a contract soon (current interim contract expires Dec 03). 5) With a plan in sight, we should renew our discussions for engagement with NGOs.
