Thank you v e ry much for taki ng the ti me to si t down with me and col 1eagues from Exel on and Republ ic on July 13. We really appreci ate the opportuni ty to talk to you and your team about West Lake, what we have done to date to the site and where we see the future of the clean-up.
As was menti oned in the meeti n g , Exel on and Republ ic both support a cap to the si te and are ready to move on that front at any ti m e . We believe that the cappi ng sol uti on protects the pubi ic as well as any al ternati ve and can do so in a relatively short ti m e , under 2 years, as opposed to other more comp icated solutions (which offer no additional safeguards to the pubiic) that could take 5, 7 or even 10 years. We share the Admi ni strator's goal of relyi ng on sound sci enee and maki ng the agencyresponsive to pubiic needs, and believe the cappi ng soluti on does both.
