Labeling of Friction Material Boxes and Cartons March 14 1973 Confirming our conversation of this morning will you please initiate action to have the OSHA specified caution labels included on Mthograph boxes for lined brake shoes and brake lining sets I do not think it will be necessary to label shipping containers for these products how- ever shipping containers for original equipment friction material or replacement material which may subsequently be ground or drilled should & also carry a caution label Possibly a pressure sensitive label would be suitable for this latter purpose You might check with Manheim and Charleston to see what they are doing on shipments of asbestos textiles which require caution labels Ron Moalli has suggested it might be vise to issue a bulletin explaining why the caution label is used I have not yet had a chance to discuss this with Dave Gow but if a bulletin is issued obviously it should coincide with the first shipments of boxes carrying the caution label Please let me know what the approximate time schedule will be with respect to the printing and use of boxes carrying the caution label CC Mesars P.
