Fitzgerald Several weeks ago Mr. Farnsworth of GE asked me to provide him PCB sales information which GE could, in turn, use in its hearings with the State of New York. Essentially, he wanted to go back in history as far as we could go and have us indicate how many pounds of PCB*s we shipped to which customers by ship-to-location and date. He only wanted those shipments which went to the States of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont. The reason for collecting the information was, of course, to help GE show that it might not be the only "polluter" of rivers with PCBfs. After checking with our legal staff, I advised him that: 1. we generally did not keep information more than five years owing to our record retention policy, and 2. we could not voluntarily release such specific information showing actual pounds shipped to customers, some of whom might well be his competitors , 3. we would provide him information on the number of pounds shipped to the four State area in toto.
