We propose to furnish labor, equipment and materials to coat
the approximately 570 squares of gross roof area at the Reverberatory
Furnace for $17,872.00.

Area of roof to be lightly sandblasted and then painted with .one coat of 21-905 Zinc Dust Metal Primer Gray and two coats of
20-068 Platnum Spar Aluminum. Specifications for materials are attached.

CONVERTER BUILDING UP-KEEP Mr.Loughridge gave you permission in his letter of August 24 to do the work outlined in your letter of August 17. In the interim, I asked Mr. Haug for his recom mendation as to the type of paint to be used and he feels that a bitumastic coating would be preferable to the aluminum paint which Southwest has proposed. Unless you advise to the contrary, I will assume that you will comply with Mr. Haug's suggestion.

The converter building roof was replaced in 1967 with galvanized metal. It has since rusted and, in order to preserve this roof, it needs to be painted.
Bids were solicited from local contractors to sand blast and paint this building. Southwestern Industrial Contractors and Riggers1, Inc.' furnished the low bid of $17,872. The contract will call for sand blasting and painting with one coat of zinc metal dust primer, fol lowed by two coats of Platnum Spar Aluminum.

SUBJECT: ORDER 71-1408-1. REQN. EP-30 PAINTING CONVERTER BUILDING ROOF
Herewith four (4) copies of contract properly signed and executed with Southwestern Industrial Contractors & Riggers, Inc. to cover the Painting of Converter Building Roof_______________ in accordance with specifications referred to therein.
It will be in order for you to hand the signed copy of the Agreement to the contractor, giving him whatever instructions are required to proceed with this work; the remaining three (31 copies are for the plant file.
You will note New York Purchasing Department Order 71-1408-1 has been assigned to this contract for reference purposes. As soon as the work is completed to the satisfaction of all concerned, the invoices should be paid locally without reference to this office. However, a copy should be sent to New York for recording.
Also, you are to note the expiration date of the insurance. Should the work continue beyond the date shown, be sure to obtain an extension to protect the company until the work is completed.
