M Gentlemen: Tests have been conducted at our l&nville Plant on the respirators mentioned at the June 13th meeting including one additional respirator. The * following ccrrments are those of operators using the various respirators when working in areas requiring such equipment. Martindale Protective Ifesk, supplied by the Martindale Electric Company of Cleveland. Ohio. Efficiency: Unsatisfactory, too flimsy, does not do a good job of filtering. Comfort: Satisfactory because it is very light. American Optical Ccoipany, Respirator R9100. Efficiency: Satisfactory, breathes freely, would be more satisfactory if filters could be changed. Comfort: Very satisfactory, small and light. Dupor Indiana. supplied by H. S. Cover, Station A, Southbend, Efficiency: Very satisfactory, breathes freely. Comfort: Very satisfactory. Willson #5, supplied by the Willson Company. Efficiency: Satisfactory, breathes freely. Comfort: Fair, heavy on face, causes perspiration which cause bands to chafe face. Tel. Efficiency: Poor, difficult to inhale, prolonged wearing causes pain in chest. 3he position of the filter valve is such that when the wearer bends over, the valve is caught between his chin and chest, cutting off exhalation* Comfort: Ibor, heavy and clumsy. Note further comments by operators: While the Dupor #k respirator's efficiency was found to be the best of the five tested and is satis factory and comfortable, the American Optical Company's #R9100 seems to be preferred because it is smaller and light.
