Is the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance commonly known as the criminal enforcement division? o The Criminal Investigation Division is a sub-unit within the Office of Criminal Enforcement, Forensics, and Training (OCEFT). OCEFT is one of several offices within the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA), and is responsible for criminal enforcement, (https://www.epa.gov/aboutepa/about~ office-enforcement-and-compliance-assurance-oeca)
Do the 143 agents cover enforcement in all areas of the EPA, including Superfund? Or does the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance cover only EPM? o OECA's special agents investigate environmental crimes under all of the environmental statutes, including Superfund.
Is Superfund criminal enforcement at all separate from the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, or is it within it? o See above.

I am a fact-checker working with The Intercept on a forthcoming piece by Sharon Lerner about the EPA. She has said that she was told that The Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance's current agent count is 143.1want to make sure we are characterizing this number accurately.
