Schappell f5L<-/CSS The following action items resulted from my recent visit to the Pensacola fac i 1 i ty: 1. Solids measurement on DMF is significantly different between -- plants. On one shipment where we measured a 4% solids content, the Pensacola plant measured less than 2-1/2%. 1 understand this is being addressed by the Analytical Test Methods group, and I suggest that this be given a higher priority. 2. Mike Fuqua, Process Engineer supporting the PVC plant, is working with Tom Garrisi on the trays for their column on the south line. The trays themselves are already on order. Mike should be used as a contact in conjunction with Tom Garrisi to get our program off the ground. Perhaps we could at least order the trays as they are a long-lead item. They are scheduled for a May time frame for completion. 3. They have repaired their DMF reprocessing unit, and they have indicated that our jelling material has disappeared, probably as a result of us reducing the temperature. 4. John Anderson indicated that one of his VCM unloading compressors is in dire need of complete rebuild and/or replacement. I indicated that we are not utilizing some of the compressors at our unloading station. Brian, could you please give him a contact person in Project Engineering so that he can pursue that avenue if it is o.k. with Hermann. 5. I happened to be there during a time when they were boiling out a column. It took less than 1-1/2 hours to boil out that column. The significant item was that they were able to very quickly flood the column with water. That is our key weakness, as we have discussed in the past. 6. Their bagging machine is in dire need of replacement. I will pursue with our Project Engineering the availability of any pieces of equipment from our PVOH bagging operation. AP00044085 B. A. As Carol Gray develops the scope to put in a tank for the antl-stat, she should at least get a copy of the scope and engineering definition for the anti-stat system that is in place in Pensacola. It is a very clean system in which drums are emptied into a bulk tank and the material is fed upstream of the Niro. Very minimal handling problems with this. 9. ^. , l,u* The facility has X-bar and R charts on various components of their process coming directly from the HP. They have this In their control room for operators, etc. to look at. The operators are not doing any of the charting; it is being done strictly from lab analysis and lab data from the HP.
