ASRC is one of twelve land-owning Alaska Native regional corporations created at the direction of Congress under the terms of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971. ASRC is owned by 13,000 Inupiat (North Alaskan "Eskimo") shareholders. ASRC's region is the North Slope of Alaska, encompassing 55 million acres, and ASRC owns approximately 5 million acres adjacent to parks and refuges on the North Slope. Members of ASRC's leadership team will be in Washington, D.C. on January 28, 29 and 30, and would welcome an opportunity to introduce themselves to you and provide an overview of matters relevant to the management of parks and refuges adjacent to ASRC lands on the North Slope. If, due to the ongoing Shutdown you are unable to commit to meetings at this time, we certainly understand and I would be happy to touch base again once the Shutdown has ended.
