On JuLy U, 1972. a study was made at the Friction Materials 3uilding to evaluate employee exposure to asbestos in tho Finance Department, Lunch Room and Laboratories. Results of all these samples were below the allowable 5 fibers per milliliter threshold limit value for asbestos. Results appear on the attached data sheet.
Several of the tools used in the Produce Development Laborscory'need improved venci la tiorr. The ventilation for the equipment in this laboratory and also for the Aampco brake shoe grinder in the garage discharge filtered air into the plant. This type of ventilation does not meet the require ments of the State Health D.partment. The exhaust air from this.equipment must be filtered and discharged to the outside in sach a manner as to prevent recirculation.
We recommend thee the ventilation system for the belt sender, disc grinder, band saw, table saw, radial arm saw. and the Aampco brake shoe grinder be Improved in accordance with the ventilation designs shown on the attachments. In addition, we recommend that an air-line respirator type NPSP-226 be provided whenever bond endurance tests are run in the dynamometer test room.*
