Tentative maximum air release specifications have been established. The ranges were arrived at after statistical treatment of the data available based on logarithmic distribution. Table I lists the data obtained by this method. The only resin type which still shows large fluctuations is 1716. This resin type will, therefore, be put on a DAR basis until more data is on hand for further evaluation.
The investigations and tests conducted to explain the erratic air release fesults gave no conclusive answer to this phenomena. The tabulation of 1716 runs listing preceeding resin types (Table II) seems to indicate the influence of 0565 and 1065 resin types on the 1716 air release. However, high air release values were also found in 1716 lots run after 1730 and 1732 production.
In addition, air release tests were run on 1730 resins spiked with known amounts of tridecanol. Table III lists air release values for 0, 1, 2 and 3 percent tridecanol levels. No great fluctuations are noted.
