Dr. R. A. Kehoe,
Dear Dr. Kehoe:
.
Thame you very much for your letter of October 25th. Regarding the insur
ance plan applications, if you can see your way clear to give these attention without
delay, it would help the -situation along considerably. In order to have the insurance
plan become effective it is necessary that a minimum of three-quarters of the per
sonnel of our- organisation take, it out. Up to this morning, we are about twelve
employees short of the three-quarters and your department would just about out it
over. You will understand this insurance can be taken out by any employee on a
salary basis even though they have other interests and only devote a portion of
their time to work for our company. I have not had the opportunity of seeing Mr.
Webb as yet with regard to your general report to him but will probably be able
to discuss this In the next day or so. Meantime, however, 1 do not think there
is anything in it that -would Involve holding up the insurance plan becoming effective
for any o f ,your employees who wish to go into it. We think it a splendid thing for
everyone concerned, and while we do not in any way want to unduly urge our people
to take it out, nevertheless, we feel we can heartily recommend it.
'
Vie note Dr. Crudgington,is taking care of the southwest inspections and that Dr. Sanders will cover the Imperial Oil work. '
'i
I am very much interested in Julius Weidlich and would appreciate it if you would let me have a report on his condition and progress from time to time.
.I will advise Eddie Walter your opinion about the South Penn Oil Company.
With best regards, I am

Dear Mr. Ylttnacht:
I received your letter of October 15 and
its enclosures in the matter of the General Motors Group In
surance Plan. I put the booklets in the hands of my assist
ants and have talked the matter over \,/ith them somewhat, but
I have suggested that nothing be done about it by them at the
moment until we have decided'something as to the policy we
will pursue during the coming year. I have written Mr. Webb
a somewhat lengthy letter on the subject of the possible re
lationships between my laboratory staff and the Ethyl Gaso
line Corporation and I shall be guided by his reaction to
the contents of the letter as to what recommendations to
make to my group.

I also received your letter in the mat ter of the new installations. Dr. Crudglngton is in the southwest at the present time and I have wired him to take care of Coffeyville, Kansas, Ft. Worth, Texas, Colorado, Tex as, Bristow, Oklahoma and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The other^bwo points, Paulsboro, TT. J. and Olean, l i . Y. we. will take care of in the very near future. I am writing Mr. Martin today asking him to communicate withus direct if Dr. Crudglngton does not reach his points at the proper time. Please be good enough to refer this information to Mr. Taylor, who also wrote me On the same subject.
Your letter of October 17 in regard to the men needed at the Regina and Calgary refineries of the Imperial Oil Company has also been received. Dr. Sanders is In the northwest at present and has just visited these points. I have no doubt he has given them the additional men of which they were in need and that the matter is en tirely cared for without any action on my part.
Thanks very much for your letter con cerning Julius Weldllch. Just when he will be able to get back to work is somewhat problematic. Up to the present he has had two blood transfusions on account of his. anemia, and will probably have an exploratory operation in the course of the next few days. It is possible that his condition may be serious - it depends entirely upon the

nature of the process which has "been going on in his upper abdomen. Your interest in him and your very kind treatment of him will be very much appreciated by him I am sure.
Kindest regards to yourself. Sincerely yours,
