1. Vinyl chloride concentrations were measured on and in the area of the S. S. Puerto Rican during 70! loading with the Organic Vapor Analyzer (OVA). Readings were taken curing hcok-up operations, then every other hc.ir during the leading. Lota: Although the CYA is calibrated for VC'*, any organic vapor present in the area will register. However, it is presured that organic vapors present in most of the areas monitored are -VCR. (See section 2.) VCR Loading:

(Comments:
1- The high readings found on #6 Dog house and por*t headers were reported to the first mate.
2. Again the high reading found on #6 Dog house was reported to the first mate. The area was checked but the leak was still present. Finally at 07:15 AM the problem was resolved. It was"caused by a leak in a sample tube. It was fixed.
2* Since the OVA is not specific for VCM, several monitors which are specific for VCM were placed in the following areas. The reported values are time-weighted averages for the duration of the VCM loading operation.
