Luke,
I might be in the market for a schedule C as an aide de camp, troubleshooter, and more generally someone to keep track of all the assignments my future boss and I spin off to make sure that the bureaucracy actually follows up and things get done.
Would that be of any interest to you, or is that too much process and not enough substance?

Hi Scott, Thanks for writing! I'm wrapping up my AAAS fellowship at USDA at the end of
August. I'm currently planning on returning to my faculty position at the University of California, Berkeley, but I continue to be interested in a political appointee position at DOI where I could contribute my knowledge in areas such as geospatial analyses, natural resource management, survey analysis, and public affairs.
I happened to meet Richard Cardinale, Chief of Staff in Land and Minerals Management, a couple of weeks back. We had a good conversation and he also forwarded my application materials on to Lori Mashburn.
Keep me posted if you hear of opportunities where I may be a good fit, and I am happy to come by DOI to introduce myself to the appropriate people.
Best, Luke
