REISKER'S UTTER OF OCTOBER 11, 1968 Attached are copies of G. E. Crlaehav's letter of October 3rd and A. G. Reinker's letter of October 11th relative to our proposed nev product SUFBREX 8G for ose in blast furnace stoves and its inter relation with the Villiaa Bailey Company and the Koppers Coopany. This appears to be getting somewhat complicated to me and I would appreciate it if you would review these letters and then advise what you think sight be done. 1 am in agreement with the suggestion that some acknowledgment be given to Mr. Bercsynskl in the way of the letter from Johns-Manvllla. To my knowledge the contribution thet can be attributed to Mr. Berezynskl would be that he pointed out a possible problem area in blast furnace stoves if the insulation is not compressible to some degree. He gave this In a paper at the A.l.M.E. In Atlantic City. S. E. Woolcy at the. Research Center has a copy of this paper in case you are interested in reviewing its contents. I think this probably is important and is something that we should have on file. I understand that you are looking into the overall patent situation with respect to our SUFEREX 8G Block. Va certainly want to have an arrangement or coverage in such a way that va are not limited with respect to the customers to whoa ve can sell the produet. The Interest for this product la growing and wa expect to begin to ship seme material shortly. You received a copy of George Grimshaw's letter of October 3? in which he ask;`(J that seme acknowledgement be given to Mr. Eercsyr.cki in connection with develop ment of our Composite Block. Actually, as I recall the circumstances, the paper by this gentlemen indicated he felt the problem with shell rupture was due to expansion and subsequent friction on the plate and his recommendations for solving the problem were that a conpressable mineral wool block be used. I don't know that any of his discussion mentioned a composite type of block. However, as we all know, Mr. Eerczynski*s paper was the start of a lot of dis cussion about the problem and I suppose it could be said that because of this we did develop the S. C-. Elock. In any event, do you feel that a letter such as Mr. Grinshaw recommends would be in order? I am wondering if this could complicate any patent applications that we might have. / */ George also has mentioned the idea of using this paper and ar.y literature that we have concerning Superex S. G. In any event, under the circumstances I don't wish to write a letter and would feel that any letter that is written should be cleared with our Legal Department.
