Roesch^Tarry Driscol^ . #1615 Talc - it was agreed after some discussion that there should be periodic checks of bacteria made by an outside laboratory so that we would have something in the files to back up the work done by. Don Ferry and the men at the plant at Souih Plainfield. The frequency of these tests is to be based on the costs of running these tests-. That is whether it should be run every day, once a week, once, a month, or on each shipment of crude ore. .... ' It was however, generally agreed by all present .that we do need more backup on our bacteria check so that we have some kind of a-story to ,give our customers. . .; . ' .. . will he a lead and arsenic check made by our laboratory on each individual shipload of crude Italian Talc as it was felt that this would give us some sort of a selling point with our customers* Also spot checks periodically. We decided that we needed a definite list of test procedures that we will run for our customers when they request a protocol of analysis. It was agreed that we should run-the 'following tests and this xs what we should try and get each and every one of our customers who demands this work to accept. They are:, bulk density, screen analysis, acid solubles, bacteriological check, color,, loss on ignition, and lead and arsenic. There would be a notation on this list also stating that this product meets our typical specifications. . .; We discussed the Alpine Talcs. We particularly discussed the bacteriological contamination and also the contamination of - Alabama Talc with the Texas ,ore which throws the Alpine Talcs cut of specification.1 ;: * It was agreed that the Alpine Talcs should be both USF and bacteria controlled. Peter Bixby agreed that the bacteria , control could be obtained by the use of heat and that more checks will have to be run at Alabama because of the time lag in getting the samples to our lab at So. Metropolitan Talc Company, ' specifically those concerned with The Mennen Company. Fred and Larry will try and sell the Mennen Company of the test procedures outlined above out of Metro. Pete will order in another carload of Montana ore so that we can make another grind for The Mennen Company to see whether or not they will approve this. If Mennen decides to go to bulk containers we will arrange to fill them ' no matter what difficulties we encounter in setting up to do this.
