RE: San Antonio Convention Center, San Antonio, Texas Dear Clay: The above job contains a large amount of sprayed asbestos ceilings In three buildings (approximately 180,000nsq. ft, - 3/4"), A lath and plastering contractor out of Corpus Christl, Texas, obtained the work on all three Items: lathing, plastering and sprayed asbestos. His total con tract on the job Is $600,000, with the spray work account ing for $64,000. The general contract Is a joint venture between Dsrrah A Lyda, Inc., F. 0. Box 5296,rSHn Antonio, Texas, and H. A. Lott, Ino., F. 0. Box 36303, Houston, Texas. The plastering contractor had no experience or equipment for doing the spray work, and offered to sub-contract the entire spray portion to me for what he had in It. I would have liked to have It on my own. However, the operation for just a month would require quite a bit of money for salaries, scaffolding, material and miscellaneous expense, so I thought It would be better to work out a joint ven ture arrangement wit1 the plastering contractor. On January 30 we reached an agreement on a joint venture basis: My mentwili go on the plasterer's payroll, and he will be repponsible for all labor, material and ex penses. I will furnish the equipment, supervision and spray mechanics. His bonding company Is U. S. Fidelity & Guaranty Company, same city, Morris Englehart, agent. The Job will be strung out over several months, but I expect to start work in Building "A" about March 6, since about 25,000 ft. can bo sprayed then. The comple tion date on this project Is November 1967, and the way it Is progressing I expect to do the entire Job with a three man crew. Will you please check Chester Smith out Id your satis faction. First material used on the Job will probably be taken from stock left in Temple, and balance by truck via Sea Land.
