Foster Wheeler Gets Vacuum Oil Contracts in France. John J. Brown, chairman of the board of the Foster Wheeler Corpo ration, said yesterday that his com pany had obtained large contracts in France as a result of the granting of refining permits by the French Government to the Vacuum Oil Com pany. "The Vacuum Oil Company will now proceed with its extensive build ing plan," Mr. Brown said, "which calls for the construction of several refineries which Foster Wheeler will construct and equip in France. This business will involve several millions of dollars." Mr. Brown, who returned on the Leviathan Monday, said that in Rus sia Foster Wheeler is building six refineries, two at Grosny and four at Baku, the entire contract involv ing $2,500,000. In Germany, he said, the company had abandoned for the present its efforts to acquire plant facilities, but had organized a new German company which will eventu ally take over a large part of Foster Wheeler's foreign business.
