Holmes on behalf of the Air Hygiene Comittee. This report and the discussion pertairtng thereto was mainly concerned with a proposal for rese-rroa recently suj.i.tted to tne Institute by the Air Hygiene Corviittee, said research covering tiie two projects: l) a c arc'io-rulmonary study and 2) an autopsy study. It was gen erally agreed that tiie first project noted, wo;jld. be desirer.j'.e and would undoubtedly provide some information of significance, however, the inability of member cor.riam.es to obtain candidrtes for tart:cipation in tins proiect, which would require hospitalization and observation, would seer, to provide great difficulties in effectively carrying o't such a program at tins time. The second program listed, was considered ill-advised at this tii..e due to its implication tnat a relationship eitisted cetveon asbestosis and carcinogenic development, a condition which, to date, has not been established although it has been given rather wide-spread publicity in tiie press. 7, The Technical CoM-iittee report was presented by iir. J. D. ..eCluer, Chairman of that Com!ttee. (Fepcrt attached).
