Kittilstad Attached you will find an Industrial Hygiene Sample Log which lists and describes all air samples which were taken October 22-24, 1979. This is the second Industrial Hygiene Survey since the plant shut down on May 11, 1979. There was a total of 11 employees (7 hourly and 4 salaried) still working at the plant. Tucker At the time of this survey the asbestos dump site between CertainTeed and G.A.F. was being graded and earth covered. Two area samples ('Entry No. 018 and 019), taken on October 24, 1979, were specifically taken near the dump site to de termine the airborne concentrations from the grading operations. These samples were in parallel to personal samples taken by Industrial Testing Lab of St. Louis, Missouri. AH samples taken and analyzed, fell well within the OSHA Standard of 2,0 fibers/cubic centimeter of air, with a range Of 0.0020 to 0,1510 f/cc. Tuesday, 10/23 - Partly cloudy 45-55 temperatures. Wednesday, 10/24 - Sunny with temperatures in mid 50o,s - 60's. Shipments - Averaging 3 a day. Samples taken and analyzed following the NIOSH Recommended procedures for "Sampling and Evaluating Airborne Asbestos Dust". Asbestos regulations as set by OSHA requires that an employee's exposure to asbestos shall not exceed 2.0 fibers, longer than 5 micrometers, per cubic centimeter of air in an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA).
