Dear Mr. Schaefer: Thanks very much for your wire and your letters calling my attention to the difficulties which developed at the plant of the California Chemical Corporation. I wired at once requesting further particulars and suggesting that I be kept informed of the turn of events. I received a letter yesterday describing the procedures and telling me more of the condition of the man who was overcome by vapors. Apparently there had been no considerable worry as to the condition of this man and from their descriptionof his symptoms. I take it to be reasonably certain that he did not inhale any considerable quantity of Tetra-Bthyl lead. It would seem to be clear that his difficulty arose from the inhalation of Di-bromide vapors. Any difficulties which would have been expected to take a serious turn, should have occurred before this time* I take it, therefore, that -we will probably have no further difficulty in the matter.
