It is most unfortunate that so much was made of Mr Rodoreda's letter which was given to Dr Saint purely for guidance and should not have been passed on. In a desire to press our claim for hospitalisation, which is becoming more urgent each day, we wished to let Dr Saint have details of any developments so that he could discuss the matter with you whilst he was in Perth, otherwise the letter would have been destroyed. Unless you have already contacted Mr Rodoreda I would prefer that you awaited my next visit to Perth when I hope to see him and will cover the subject with him. I hope also to call on you. We are pleased that some steps have been taken regarding the design of an hospital. The plan submitted by us was intended only as a subject for discussion as it was realised that improvements could doubtless be suggested as a result of your experience of other hospitals. We are pleased to note your reaction to the suggestion that Onslow and Roebourne hospitals may be utilised. This would be of no benefit whatever. Regarding the cost of the building we shall undertake to erect the building on behalf of the Department but it was agreed some time ago that it would, when necessary, be financed by the Government. We would appreciate any correspondence on this subject being posted air mail as your last letter took five weeks to reach here. Again regretting the unfortunate results of endeavouring to expedite the building of our hospital.
