March 22, 19^5 Mr. Arthur Nutt, Wright Aeronautical Corporation, Paterson, Hew Jersey. Bear Mr. Nutt: Somewhat earlier than this time last year Sam Hero'n sent me a copy of an exchange of correspondence with you over the matter of'the handling of gasoline, specifically leaded gasoline, in 3ome of your plant operations. Shortly after that I visited ~h Cincinnati plant, and on the basis of my observations there plus information contained in the correspondence referred to above, I cropped any further investigation of the matter inso far as it related to plants of Wright Aeronautical Corporation. Fhis subject has now come up again by virtue of some observations I have made elsewhere and by reason of some of the activities of gasoline distributors acting in relation to military needs.. For this reason X am planning to have a look at a number of plants, and since X should be in the vicinity of your Paterson plant on Friday of next week, it occurs to me that if it would serve any useful purpose whatever, X should be very glad to discuss this matter with some of your people and to see any operations that present the possibility of hazard either from gasoline or from lead I do not want to bother busy .people and X am sure you will appre ciate the fact that I am not making this suggestion out of idle curiosity. If I can be of any assistance and if there are any problems of this type thatwould justify my visit to your plant, I should be happy to make the trip. However, if for any reason you and your associates consider this inadvisable or unnecessary, please let me know, and I should be guided accordingly. If you find it possible to reply by mail before Wednesday of next week, I shall have your reply in time to make plans accordingly. However, if I do not hear from you, I shall telephone from Hew York, asking for you. In case you wish to leave a message for . me in your absence, I shall inquire^concerning it. Very truly yours, r.AK ef Lo&ertii. "liehoe, M. 'D.
