Fry's Letter of October 28, 1971, Concerning Above `Subject Dear' Mr. Fry: * `- We have been aware that the manufacturer of the bag heat sealers, H. I*.1 Stoker Company, is behind schedule cn their approval drawings. The 938 Inspection and Expediting Department was requested to look into this delay as soon as it was apparent, October 5. They are investi gating this matter through both H. L. Stokes Company and Mann Engineering Company to determine the cause of delay and what effect, if any, this drawing delay will have on final equipment delivery. ^ delay: UCC must shoulder some of the responsibility for this procurement ,_ - 1. The Operating Department requested a "hold!1 on the purchase of, this equipment on August 4 and the hold was not released until" August 31. ,, ,.wi, 2. Purchase transactions were started immediately after the hold ;; was released and it required approximately eight days to process the necessary paper work through established channels. " ; .;-,f ---Vf* We requested shipment on this equipment in early December, based on the vendor's quotation. At this time we are assuming that this shipping date is firm, although we will have a better indication of delivery after our field inspector reviews this project, in detail, with the manufacturer.
