Bob M ille r, Bill Moore, ' W alter Pickens, Wes W essel 1. Our punch press for making m etal corner casing broke and it w ill be another week before it is ready for new production'. In the meantime, we are pur chasing some m etal from C asings W estern a t about our b ranch-cost price so th a t we can give service to th is a re a . Bob M iller h a s notified Texas and they f e e l that they can get by u n til we are back in production. This w ill be put in the Paco cartons ' so that the customer w ill probably not be aware that we have made a change, since they are apparently using the same source of m etal that we are. 2. Our main problem at this time as far a s the Sales Department is con cerned is to get a better wall texture, principally in the area of le ss rew etting. We plan to evaluate Vince's product and our 5565 to see if one of these can be done at a slight a d d itio n al c o st. The Sales D epartm ent feels that we could stan d at least an additional cost of 10$ per bag if we did make a better product th at the customer could see was actually better in this are a. 3. Our 5535-H Finishing Compound is doing a real good job. The only possible thing that could be improved on th is would be having it dry a little fa ste r. Even though slow drying is an advantage, Don M arquardt feels that perhaps it . a little too slow and w ill be more evident during the w inter seaso n . Doug M erril ill make an experim ental batch as soon as he h as tim e. 4. Bob M iller ad v ises us th at we m ust now have a warning on eac h proo -t container to indicate th at asb esto s is in the form ula. Doug will do th is immedia,,ely on a ll new bags a s we re-o rd e r. Bob M iller h as given him the correct term inology to use to make th is correction. This is being done in order for us to comply w ith the new OSHA regulations concerning use of a s b e s to s . It should be noted th a t th is applies to dry-powder products only, since our ready-m ix is not covered under this regulation and it is not necessary for us to label it. 5. W e-need a better means of identification on our extra slow Q uik-Set Joint Cement since it is in the same colored bag a s the slow type and it is quite easy to get them confused in.the sto re . Bob M ille r w ill check with Texas to se e if they can give us the extra slow in a separate colored bag. Also, we would like to have a number on a ll three products if p o ssib le . Since we have numbers for the fa st and the slo w , Bob w ill see if he can g e t a number assigned in ro tatio n for the extra slow as w ell. 6. W es W essel is making a survey of the ready-mix joint cem ent market in Los Angeles and w ill give Doug M errill sam ples of Supro and Hamilton w hich appear to be the two th at are the widest sold.
