Applications R & D - Division 15 Aniwori/ig ^vbfnl dofo First Production Run of BMMA-5715 A 30, 000-pound production run for the new medium-impact molding material BMMA-5715 is planned, and a Development Department Request for Use of Production Department Equipment (Form *'3494") has been submitted. BMMA5/715 has been developed to compete with Durez 1544 and development test results to date have shown that the material has better preheat latitude and cure speed, and yields molded pieces which are superior to the Durez in appearance and di mensional stability. Attached to this letter are the formula and manufacturing instructions for BMMA-5715. It will be noted that this material uses the same resin system as &MGA-5138 and it is hoped that BMMA-5715 will process similarly to it. The initial requirements call for a grade 12 and a special grade 16 material to be made. The latter will include material on the stiff side of grade 16 and on the soft side of grade 15 as measured by the MLTF test. With regard to granulation, although the specifications for a BMM 12 mesh material call for 1-7% through a 60 mesh screen, it would be desirable to aim for a 5% max. fines through this screen, if possible.
