L0SCHIAV0 WASHINGTON WORKS 0 TRENDS IN BLOOD C-8 LEVELS FOR VARIOUS TEFLON OPERATING GROUPS WASHINGTON WORKS The attached Tables contain blood C-8 data for fifteen Fine Powder Zone 4* Opertors, five FEP Zone 4 Operators, two TFE Zone 6 Operators, and eigh t FEP Zone 6 Operators- A ll th irty o f these TEFLON employees have had two samples drawn since August, 1980 and analyzed by the C-8 sp e cific method. Blood C-8 data were obtained from the FLAIR program. The follow ing observations are made: . Rate of blood C-8 accumulation in new employees ( i. e . , employees with less than 700 days in the job) is higher for Fine Powder Zone4 Operators than for FEP Zone 4 Operators. The highest blood C-8 accumulation rate for Fine Powder Zone 4 Operators is 0.0058 ppm/day while the highest rate for FEP Zone 4 Operators is 0.0011 ppm/day. One out of the four Fine Powder Zone 4 Operators with more than 700 days in that job shows a le v e llin g o ff in blood C-8 while the other three show blood C-8 decreases. The two FEP Zone 4 Operators with more than 700 days in that job are showing blood C-8 decreases. ' t Five out of eight FEP Zone 6 Operators are showing blood C-8 decreases. A ll eight of these employees have over 5000 days in that job. However, more data is needed before s t a t is t ic a l sign ifican ce can be claimed. Fine Powder Zone 4 Operators co n sist of Dryer, Moisture Check, Environmental Control, Dispersion Packout, and Fine Powder Packout Operators. TFE Zone 6 Operators co n sist of Autoclave Operators and Dispersion Processors. FEP Zone 4 Operators con sist of Wet F in ish in g , Oven, Packout, Shredder, and Dispersion Operators.
