bjecl: C8 Follow -up Medical Surveillance
Just wanted to le t everyone know that we plan to do the follow-up m edical surveillance for the people who participated in the baseline study fast year. Beginning next week, we w ill be asking each unit to schedule their people fo r an appointment in Medical on Wednesday, Thursday cr Friday by calling Les Bacon. Note that Medical is not yet fully functional as a result o f th e ir relocation and that th is note is relative only to C8 follow-up surveillance. Forty three people participated In the baseline surveillance
which included: medical history questionnaire automated chemistry profile (analysis by LabCorps) - SMA-12 (includes HQL, cholesterol, glucose,
uric acid. BUN. calcium, pbosphonis, total protein, albumin, bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, LDH, AST (SGOT), total cholesterol, creatinine and ALT (SGPT)) complete blood count (analysis by LabCorps) perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) In blood (analysis by National M edical Services, W illow Grove, PA} 9 total fluorine in blood (analysis by Chris Bowers? lab in Jackson Lab)
The follow-up surveillance w ill be identical to the baseline surveillance and each person's results w ill be compared his/her baseline, i am also working w ith the unit S&OH coordinators to identify others who need the baseline surveillance - these people are not included in the following list. W e plan to do the follow-up on alt o f the original participants, whether o r not they worked in the process. A decision still
needs to be made relative to the people who are no longer on the site. An email message w ill be sent to each participant on Monday with copies to their unit manager and S&OH coordinator inform ing them of the program. I w ill forward a copy o f the draft le tte r in another m essage. I recommend that you talk to the employees before they receive the email so that they know it is coming.
