The samples were analyzed for TOC in duplicate by furnace combustion and nondispersive infrared detection on a Dohrmann Phoenix 8000 TOC analyzer, after acidification to remove inorganic carbon, and drying. No correction was made, therefore, for moisture content. The average of the sample bums is reported. 2, The method-recommended holding time o f 2 weeks was met.
