I came out from Oklahoma with the Administrator back in March. I had been handling the fundraising/political for him prior to doing so. He recognized an area where he felt that I would serve well and asked that I fill the role. So, with an eagerness to serve in some way, I made the move.
If it has been on your mind for some time, you ought to find a way to do it. Just know, it's no Nebraska. :)
