No. bk2, April 4, 1963 TRASK AND PUTNEY NAMED TO NEW POSITIONS Warren T. Trask has been named manager of metal sales for the Company's metal division, with offices at New York, and Robert A. Putney has been appointed assistant manager of the metal division. Mr. Trask was employed by the St. Louis Branch in 19^-6 as manager of steel package sales and in 1952 he was named manager of the newly-formed Steel Package Division. He was made assistant manager of the metal divi sions of the St. Louis and Southwestern Branches in 1953 and manager in 1959. Prior to joining National Lead he was associated with Geuder, Paeschke & Prey Company in Milwaukee, where he was in charge of sales and administra tion of that company's Steel Container Division. Mr. Putney began his Company career in 1930 in the Atlantic Branch accounting department at New York and was named assistant to the manager of the Atlantic Branch metal division in 1935- He was transferred to the Perth Amboy plant in 19^ as purchasing agent for secondary metals, continuing as assistant to the manager of the Atlantic Branch metal division. He was appointed superintendent of the smelting and refining department at the Perth Amboy plant in 19^9 and plant manager in 1951 He returned to New York in 1955 as assistant to the manager of the Company's metal division. EICHOEN NAMED MANAGER AT ST. LOUIS Fred A. Eichorn has been appointed manager of the metal divisions of the St. Louis and Southwestern Branches, succeeding Warren T. Trask. Mr. Eichorn joined the Company in 1928 as a member of the metal sales office of the Atlantic Branch at New York. Following service overseas in World War II, he returned to the New York office. In 19^6 he was made assistant sales manager of Morris P. Kirk & Son, Inc., a Company subsidiary, at Los Angeles and three years later general sales manager. LANG NEW MANAGER AT CLEVELAND Malcolm J. Lang has been named manager of the metal division of the Cleveland Branch. Mr. Lang joined the Company in 19^-0 as a member of the accounting department at Cleveland and in 19^6 became a member of the sales staff. He was appointed assistant sales manager of the metal divi sion of the Cleveland Branch in 1955, sales manager in 1959 and assistant manager the following year. Mr. Lang was graduated from the University of Michigan. MORRIS P. KIRK & SON, INC. ANNOUNCES CHANGES Morris P. Kirk II has been named general sales 'manager of Morris P. Kirk & Son, Inc., and Robert A. Havenner, assistant sales manager, ' OVer ' 0000-NLX-000024767 -2 - southern division; both with offices at Los Angeles. Mr. Kirk became a member of the technical staff of Morris P. Kirk in 1955. In 1956 he was made acting superintendent of the Salt Lake Cityplant and one year later superintendent. In 1959 he was transferred to Los Angeles and named assistant to the vice president in charge of production at all Kirk plants. He was graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Havenner was first employed by Kirk as a salesman in 1950 and in 1953 was made sales manager, intermountain division, with offices at Salt Lake City. In 1956 he was transferred to Los Angeles as assistant to the general sales manager. He was graduated from the University of Southern California and served four years with the U. S. Navy, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. PIONEER ELECTS VICE PRESIDENT Harold A. May has been elected a vice president and has been named general sales manager of Pioneer Aluminum Inc., a Company subsidiary. Mr. May has been with Pioneer for the last five years as regional sales manager at San Diego. Prior to this he was associated with the Convair Division of General Dynamics Corporation for eighteen years, during which time he was purchasing agent, general purchasing agent and manager of materials. Mr. May received his degrees in law and business administration from Indiana University. STEWART IN NEW SALES POSITION Thomas R. Stewart has been appointed assistant to Henry J. Whitson in the sales of pigments, chemicals and oxides at New York. Mr. Stewart joined the Atlantic Branch at New York in 1954 and the following year be came a sales representative for pigments and chemicals. Prior to his Company employment he served three years with the U. S. Marine Corps and was associated for three years with Graybar Electric Co., Inc. Mr. Stewart received his B.S. degree from Babson Institute of Business Administration. COMPANY ADOPTS PLAN FOR PROGRESS National Lead Company, together with other major companies through out the country, is cooperating with the President's Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity. In January, 1963, Joseph A. Martino, Company presi dent, signed a statement at Washington together with Lyndon B, Johnson, chairman of the committee, adopting a National Lead Company Plan for Progress. The Plan pledges the Company to offer individuals equal opportunities in employment without regard to race, creed, color or national origin. HENRY A. GETZ DIES Henry A. Getz, manager of the metal division of the Cleveland Branch, died at Pittsburgh on March 20. He was 62 years of age. Mr. Getz had been manager at Cleveland since 1954 and in that capacity supervised the Company's non-ferrous metal operations throughout the Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Buffalo areas. Mr. Getz was first employed by National Lead Company in the general accounting department at New York in 1923 and two years later was moved to the metal department. In 1927 he was trans ferred to The Canada Metal Company, Ltd., a Company subsidiary and in 1937 was named manager of Great Western Smelting Company, Ltd., a subsidiary of Canada Metal at Vancouver, British Columbia. In 194-3 he was transferred to the Toronto office of Canada Metal and in 1948 he returned to the United States as manager of the Company's Baltimore Branch.
