12 247 4 PISTONS FRONT CALIPER - REMOVE AND INSTALL (caliper piston housing removed) SPECTAL SERVICE TOOLS REQUIRED: NONE To Remove 1. Disconnect flexible hose from chassis end, blank off pipe to prevent excessive fluid loss, and disconnect tear sensor wire from loom. Remove brake pads as described In operation 12-233. F1g.27. 2. Using low hydraulic or air pressure carefully push out piston from cylinder. Position a suitable spacer (wood) between piston and . housing to prevent piston from flying out and damaging piston face. 3. Hook out piston seal and dust cover. Wash piston and cylinder bore In commercial alcohol, methylated spirits or approved brake fluid. Ensure pistons and their bores are free from score marks. Fig.27. Use low air pressure to push out piston. To Install 4. Refit piston seal and dust cover Into cylinder bore. Stretch dust cover over piston and assemble piston Into cylinder bore. 5. Refit brake pads to caliper, refit piston housing to anchor plate, reconnect hydraulic flexible hose. Reconnect pad wear sensor loom. 6.
