As a material supplier Involved in the manufacture and sales of A/C pipe, this proposal is particularly distressing co me for the following reasons*. * Based upon current practices, wc believe it is safe to manufacture and use a/C pipe. Zn fact, many agencies, including the Government, for many years have been studying the health affects associated with the use of A/C pipe and there is no evidence to conclude chat this product poses a hazard to public health. * There Is no current, economically acceptable, substitute for A/C pipe for some uses. Thus, costs to me as a consumer of safe potable water will greatly increase, as it will also to many others. * It will impose a severe economic business lo9t on me without medical, scientific, or economic justification based on proven or established evidence or fact. * Many jobs will be loot, and numerous businesses will be placed in serious jeopardy (mine included). * In thl9 case unjustified fear and hysteria associated with anything carcinogenic Is seemingly outweighing reason and fact. * The improvement or increased protection to public health will thus be zero, while the economic and personal los9 will be enormous. Public health is not at risk here, bureaucratic power Is.
