DATE OF SURVEY April 3, 1980 DISCUSSION Four Construction employees, three insulators and one laborer, removed insulation from boiler #2 on the third level in the Institute #1 Powerhouse. All employees wore disposable coveralls, gloves and respirators. The insulation was wetted before and during removal and the area was barricaded. An insulator, Mr. B. M. Beckett, and a laborer, Mr. R. D. Ward, wore personal samplers during the removal and bagging operations. The air concentrations of the four samples taken ranged from 0.17 to 0.41 fibers per cubic centimeter of air (f/cc). Since there was no other exposure to asbestos the rest of the day, the eight-hour time-weighted average (TWA) exposures were 0.06 and 0.07 f/cc.
