Founders Assn.), Reiter (Employers mutual) and Greenburg (Xale). 1934 -- Gardner describes asbestos as "A recognized cause of severe pul monary injury," and goes on to describe the pulmonary tissue res ponse in asbestosis. 1935 -- Exhaust systems and respiratory equipment described by Liberty Mu tual authors, SW Gurney and DS Beyer, including one arrangement designed for drilling material containing asbestos. (27-28) RR Sayers (US Pub, Health Serv.) mentions asbestosis in passing, describing PHS studies that had been completed on industrial dust haz ard s (351"352) F'R Jones (Assn. Casualty & Surety Executives) discusses the growing problem of workers* comp for occupational diseases, and recommends specific legal provisions that would limit liability. Bloomfield talks on dust control, Xant on respirators. 1936 -- Dr. Edgar Mayer talks about silicosis, but gives an example of a man who had cut asbestos paper boards in a dusty room for 24 years, where silica was also present in the dust.
