May 21, 1937 Mr. I. C. Taylor Ethyl Gasoline Corporation Chrysler Building New York, New York Attention Mr. 0. B. Lewis Dear Mr. Lewis: In answer t o 'your letter of May 17 I wish to state that we have secured all of the information that we wish to have from a study of the water bottom samples that have been received to date. The safety men, therefore need no longer collect water bottom samples and can return to us any unused jugs that they may have on hand. In so far as the collection of 3ludge and scale samples is concerned, we very much prefer that these samples be collected by the safety man himself, using the equipment with which he has been provided. It is to be recognized however, that there may be times when several tanks may be simultaneously undergoing cleaning in different parts of the same territory, and under those circumstances it vdll be necessary for the safety man to arrange for the collection of sludge and scale samples from one or more of the locations not accessible to him. I plan to be In New York on May 31 or June 1 and will see you then. Very truly yours, YB4:vr Willard . Machle, hi . D.. K i 0022616
