Will is a physicist, rather than a health scientist, but is a well respected scientist with a versatile mind. I was very impressed with him when I served on the ~2004 - 2005 NAS panel on EPA's New Source Review program. He chaired that panel for a while, but had to resign to attend to other things. (And then I had to resign to go to EPA.) He has already met with the President regarding the OSTP job, but I don't know where that stands.
