A recalculation of the availability of RM 177A, and consideration of the relative binder costs, justifies the following decisions and changes to Che program outlined in my previous memo: Ref. Para. 2.2 Effective 10/1/73, E? 5452A will be changed to have more RM 177A (2Z) and less X 3578 (4X). The recipe Identification E? 5452A will be retained. (E? 5452 will be discontinued.) Ref. Para. 2.5 The E?-modification recipes will not at the present time be revised to the "reduced 177A plus X 3578" versions. Reason: We have sufficient RM 177A; productivity will Increase; the straight RM 177a recipes cost less than the X 3578 versions. These decisions are based on the estimate of 70X availability of RM 177a, and assume that the balance of the program follows the memo dated September 28th. We assume also that Foundry Products Division continues to use existing supplies of RM 177A. The safety factor of 15,000 lbs., previously included by VJB, is reduced to about 10,000 lbs., but the final target consumption then balances the availability.
