Dear Dr. Kehoe: I have Been over ___________ eye examinat ion twice since writing to you oefore think it would be fair to say that without glasses he only get s: 20/100 zt ~ with his right eye 20/200 " " left " With glasses, if you give him time enough, he gets: 20/40 =fc - right and left but he has to stop and look at each letter, then wipe his eyes and take another look before he does that well, his central vision is so poor, that he has to depend on a quick peripheral impression, which fades the longer he looks at anything. In Other words, he sees around the thing.he looks at better than the- thing he looks directly at. Of course, this is a terrific handicap, and while we may coax him to read on the 20/40 line, in actual use it could not be said that his vision was more than 20/65, even with glasses, as any even slightly prolonged effort threw him right back to the larger letters. I have not ordered glasses for him, but feel.that they v/ould be of sufficient value to order, if there `is any way for the Industrial Commission of Ohio to pay for the same.
