(27 C 4) is dark colored (2751) caused by very slight variations in the oil, or the process, beyond the control of the operator. They are reduced with butanol and are used as lacquer plasticizers. (27 y 3) & (27 Y 4) are used as emergency substitutes for (2751) by Oakland. Blown Linseed: (2754) is a general purpose blown linseed having rather vide spread use in paints and the like. (27 D 4) is a special blown linseed for use in lacquer. Blown Castor: (2749) & (27 L 3) are both used in lacquers. (2749) is more viscous & darker in color. ,,BloJ-w--n---F-i-s-h Oil: (2752) is used for paint and general use. It is recommended that formulators use (2752) wherever a blown fish oil is indicated. It is reduced to a low viscosity making it easier to handle compared to the other blown fish oils. Boiled Linseed Oil: (2701) is a boiled linseed oil with the driers cooked in. Linseed Oil: (27 F 6) is a tall soya linseed oil. (2748) is a linseed oil containing 602 linseed, 252 soya and 152 (140). This oil has the largest consumption. These are for general use. (27 A 5) is bodied and bleached with SO, and approximately 1/22 1802 dry. Miscellaneous: (27 A 1) is a varsoy. It is a maleic ester of soybean oil of high viscosity and is useful as a heavy bodied oil for blending or varnish oils in the absence of lime. (27 C 7) is a heavy bodied treated tung linseed oil which is being used in SWP undercoater. Another use is to increase gloss in trailer varnishes.
