Subject NON-ASBESTOS BRAKE LININGS Mining Engineering is in the process of converting all brake applications on mining shovels and draglines to incorporate non-asbestos lining material. The purchased brake lining part numbers that will be affected by this material change are: . Drum brake linings Propel brake linings 715U1D17 and 715U1D8 15U35, 15U63D1, 15U64D1 and 715U8D1 The new non-asbestos lining material will be P&H 3022 for drum brakes (similar to 715Q3D0): and H. K. Porter NA104 for propel ...brakes (similar to 15U63D2). The purpose of this memo is to request Purchasing to alert Engineering if any of these affected linings need to be ordered during the transition. A coordinated effort will be required between Engineering, Purchasing, Material Management, Parts and Service to identify and use up the existing stock of asbestos linings., This must be done to insure a complete conversion to non-asbestos material across the board for mining equipment.
