XQA-8 - CLOSING -REPORT 'TITLE: Classification of Calcined Product, Batch 28-1.
PURPOSE: This classification was made to remove residual fines and . dust-from the-calcined product and to remove oversize, as
is done in current plant operation.
RESULTS:
The classifieaticra was carried out at the prescribed operating
conditions. and the following cuts were made:

Quality was deficient as compared to. the same material classi fied on the machine at the Engineering Test Center . The lot was accepted by Sales, however, as a sample lot despite its being duller and more opaque due to excessive fines.
CONCLUSIONS:
The classification systems, both at Newport-and at the Engineering Test Center, are two stage classifiers (Hurricane mill plus air cyclone). The second stages at the two locations are of different sizes and have different performance characteristics, and consequently overall system performance cannot be closely matched. ; In this classification, performance was matched to the

CONCLUSIONS: (Coat'd)

In future operation, classification conditionswill / be modified toafford adequate fines removal.-
